WINESMost of our wines are available by the glass. The bracketed numbers after each wine's name - which we hope you might find useful - are a taste guide ranging from 1 (dry) to 9 (sweet). WHITEStony Cape, Chenin Blanc, South Africa (4) Elegant and zesty wine. Impressive balance of crisp acidity and tropical fruit tastes. Great with light meals or for easy social drinking. Tierra del Fuego, Sauvignon Blanc, Chile (2) A fresh wine with lots of young fruits on the palate. Crisp acidity is balanced bygorgeous flavours of apple, cut grass and citrus fruits. Ancora, Pinot Grigio, Italy (1) A soft, fruity wine with good acidity with tones of peaches, apples and pear drops on the palate. Having medium length, it is delicious with light bites, fish or on its own. Emiliana, unoaked Chardonnay; Chile (4) Intense tropical fruit aromas of banana, pineapple and passion fruit mingle with crisp fresh balanced acidity and a delicious juicy finish. Awaiting organic certification Duchesse de Riveau, Sauvignon; Bordeaux, France (2) A fresh fruity and dry wine made with 100% Sauvignon grapes. It has a bouquet of fruitsalad and is a light yellow colour. An easy drinking wine, good with fish, chicken and salads. Domaine Bergon, Viognier; Vdp d’Oc, France (3) Pale golden yellow with intense fruity notes of pear, peach, apricot and tropical fruits. Some floral, spicy and honey notes. Refreshing and lively at first then mellowing - a delicate and subtle wine. THE LANDLORD’S SPECIAL RECOMMENDATION Crowded House, Sauvignon Blanc; New Zealand (1) A top wine from New Zealand’s most famous wine region, Marlborough on the South Island. It has a fabulous bouquet of citrus fruits with stimulating nettley and gooseberry flavours. Gorgeous! ROSECabernet d'Anjou, Rose, France (7) A delicate, refreshing, medium-sweet Rose from the Loire. A favourite with the Landlady’s daughter! El Coto, Rioja Rosado; Spain (4) Crisp and refreshing medium Rosé from sunny Spain. Light and a bit peppery. Strawberry, framboise, grapefruit and orange rind flavours combine with hints of oregano. Fascinating! Ancora, Pinot Grigio Rose, Italy (1) Fresh dry Rose from Veneto, a natural extension of Pinot Grigio popularity with notes of raspberry, floral aromas and hints of thyme Sparkling Wine & ChampagneProsecco Frizzante, Domenico del Bertiol, Italy (3) Another success story from Italy, rapidly gaining popularity with the Champagne set in the city! Crisp, fruity and refreshing summer bubbles. Enjoy on its own, as an aperitif or with a multitude of white meats, salads, fish etc. Very moreish! Autreau-Roualet, Brut Reserve NV, France (1) Champagne makers since 1670 in Champillon, a small village near Epernay, the Autreau family takes pride in this golden, fruity, dry Champagne. It is oaky, clean and snappy on the finish. Ideal for that special occasion. Panilonco, Merlot; Chile (C) Easy drinking soft red. Flavours of mulberry and blackberry fruit; Warming, lingering and mouth-watering. Great on its own or with steak, barbecued meats, pasta and cheese. Yum! Stony Cape, Ruby Cabernet Cinsault, South Africa (B) A beautifully balanced soft red wine. Fruity, silky smooth Cinsault complemented by the robust and complex Ruby Cabernet. A wine for every occasion. Stonefish, Merlot, Australia (B) This wine gives tastes of mulberry and blackberry fruit with a soft finish. Warming, lingering and mouth-watering. Cremaschi Furlotti, Cabernet Sauvignon; Chile (D) Fruit driven easy drinking style, intense ruby colour and bite. Aromas of chocolate, roses and heathers. Notes of rich vanilla and toasted oak. One of the smoothest Cabernets we’ve tasted with an abundance of soft dark berry fruit flavours. Exceptional! Chateau Naujan, Clos St Vincent; Bordeaux, France (C) Very good Claret at a very reasonable price. Leafy but earthy aromas, currant and red fruit flavours enriched with riper plum, then stalky hints on the finish. El Coto, Crianza Rioja; Spain (D) Aged for a minimum of three years, ruby red, well balanced, aromatic, velvety smooth with oak and vanilla traces. A superb example of Spain’s most popular wine. THE LANDLORD’S SPECIAL RECOMMENDATION Rive, Barbera d’Asti il Cascinone; Piedmont, Italy (D) A deep garnet hued Barbera with vibrant aromas of black cherries and prunes with chocolate, toasty oak undertones and a touch of mint. An abundance of vibrant red currants, black cherries and a touch of spice show through on the palate which has a rich, voluptuous texture balancing taught acidity and fine oak tannins. A Masterpiece!
