In one of our recent projects, we had the opportunity to create a bespoke garden room for a client in London who wanted a stylish, versatile space where they could enjoy their hobbies in peace. Their vision was clear: a modern, light-filled garden hobby room with a striking exterior and the flexibility to finish the interior in their own way.
The result is a 3m x 5m garden hobby room that combines clean design with practical features. Two garden-facing sides are clad in Western Red Cedar, chosen for its natural warmth and character, while the crisp black aluminium detailing adds a bold, contemporary edge.
The front of the structure is anchored by 1.8m aluminium French doors in black, perfectly balanced with a 2.3m wide, 3-pane window that allows natural light to flood the space—ideal for crafting, creative projects, or simply unwinding. A bespoke canopy extends over the doors, fitted with four discreet LED downlights, creating a welcoming glow in the evenings. To complement this, two up-and-down lights on the side of the build add both atmosphere and architectural interest.
Inside, the hobby room is fully wired with LED downlights and multiple double sockets, making it practical for everything from powering tools and equipment to setting up a cosy reading nook. The interior has been left with a smooth, ready-to-decorate finish, giving the client the freedom to personalise the space to suit their hobbies and lifestyle.
This garden hobby room in London is more than just an extension of the house—it’s a contemporary retreat designed for creativity, relaxation, and enjoyment. By combining natural materials with thoughtful lighting and sleek aluminium features, we’ve created a versatile space that can evolve with the client’s needs.
At The Green Rooms, no two projects are the same, and this build is a perfect example of how we transform gardens into unique, functional spaces tailored to each client’s passions.
